Greetings! Now that the Canada DGI Portfolio for 2020 has been reviewed, it’s time to review the US DGI Portfolio.

Companies that no longer meet my goals for 2020:

1 company on my US DGI Portfolio was removed for 2020, due to being acquired and delisted as a result of this acquisition.

Utilities:

VVC:  Vectren was acquired by CenterPoint Energy, and delisted from NYSE last year. The US DGI Portfolio that I feature on this website didn’t hold that stock.

Companies that I decided to partner with:

I decided to partner with 6 new companies. The US portfolio now contains 101 companies in the watchlist.

Sector:

KTB:  I added KTB as part of the VFC spin-off. Kontoor Brands, Inc. designs, manufactures, sources, markets, and distributes apparel under the Wrangler and Lee brands in the United States and internationally. The company sells its products primarily through mass and mid-tier retailers, specialty stores, department stores, and retailer-owned and third-party e-commerce sites, as well as sell its products through direct-to-consumer channels, including full-price stores, outlet stores, and its Websites. Kontoor Brands, Inc. was incorporated in 2018 and is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina.

There’s little fundamentals data available due to the recent spin-off, so I’m relying on management’s tracking record for VFC and will see how that goes. Similar approach I took when MO did the spin-off of PM.

WM:   Waste Management, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides waste management environmental services to residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal customers in North America. It provides collection services, including picking up and transporting waste and recyclable materials from where it was generated to a transfer station, material recovery facility (MRF), or disposal site; and owns, develops, and operates landfill gas-to-energy facilities in the United States, as well as owns and operates transfer stations. As of December 31, 2018, the company owned or operated 247 solid waste landfills; 5 secure hazardous waste landfills; 102 MRFs; and 314 transfer stations. It also provides materials processing and commodities recycling services; recycling brokerage services, such as managing the marketing of recyclable materials for third parties; and other strategic business solutions. In addition, the company offers construction and remediation services; services related with the disposal of fly ash, and residue generated from the combustion of coal and other fuel stocks; in-plant services comprising full-service waste management solutions and consulting services; and specialized disposal services for oil and gas exploration and production operations. Further, it offers fluorescent bulb and universal waste mail-back services through LampTracker program; portable restroom services under the Port-o-Let name; and street and parking lot sweeping services, as well as holds interests in oil and gas producing properties. The company’s collection services include curbside collection of waste for transport to transfer stations, landfills, or recycling processing centers; supply of waste containers; and renting of compactors. The companies that I bought this month:

I purchase the companies from my watchlist when price is attractive, which is a process taking valuation (not price alone) into account. The watchlist speaks to “what” to buy.  The valuation process speaks to “when” to buy.

My last purchase was in October, and I typically save US$2,000 per month for the US Portfolio, so that allowed me to save US$6,000.  Plus, I will be reinvesting the dividends from 2020 ($2,065.44), which will give me a total of $8,065.44 to be invested this month.

I chose 8 companies to add or start new positions, so I’ll be allocating US$1,008.18 for each company.  The investing performance spreadsheet has been updated accordingly, including the information related to the companies that increased dividends so far this year.

Below are the valuation charts with their estimated growth for each company, as well as a description of each business. In my opinion these companies are fairly valued and estimated grow, but each investor should do their diligence to validate that the company meets their goals and that the company is fairly valued according to their criteria.
